My current interest in the figure involves depicting scenarios that include not only the figure itself, but also what I feel goes on outside of our normal perception.

When constructing a painting I begin with lines of action and movement. I then pull images from the abstract forms, which have been developed from the original action of making marks on the painting surface. Often at this point the paintings begin to gain a life of their own. It feels as if they are creating themselves.

I work with acrylic paint and sauce, a chalk like material, on board or paper. I like to fragment my images to show the many layers of construction as well as the layers of perception and consciousness occurring all around us.
